FileVeil

Hide one file inside another. Reveal it when you need it. Local processing, optional authenticated encryption, and no account or license required.

Freeware for 64-bit Windows. One signed standalone EXE. No installer, trial, registration, account, or license key.

Your privacy is guaranteed: hiding, revealing, validation, encryption, and secure-wipe operations remain on your computer. Only a support message or update check that you deliberately start uses the internet.

How It Works

The original cover and secret remain separate unless you explicitly choose the secure-wipe option.

Choose

Select a secret file, a cover file, and the path for the new veiled output.

Protect

Enable password protection when needed, then create and validate the veiled file.

Reveal

Open the Reveal tab later, choose the veiled file, and recover the original secret.

Freeware

The complete desktop utility is available without a trial or commercial unlock.

Questions

Does FileVeil modify my original cover file?

No. It creates a new output whose beginning is an exact copy of the cover. The original cover remains unchanged.

Can I use any file as a cover?

You can choose any file, but compatibility depends on the app that opens it. Many common image, audio, video, and PDF readers tolerate trailing bytes; some apps and services do not.

Does FileVeil send my files anywhere?

No. Hiding, revealing, validation, encryption, and secure-wipe operations run on your computer. A support request sends only the form fields, app details, and a hashed device ID; an update check requests only the release manifest.

How is my hidden file encrypted?

When you turn on password protection, FileVeil turns your password into a key and uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption to scramble the hidden file, including its name and size. It also checks that the encrypted data was not changed. Everything happens on your computer, and FileVeil does not save your password or key.

Can a forgotten password be recovered?

No. FileVeil does not store the password or derived key. Keep the password somewhere safe.

Does secure wipe guarantee that every copy is gone?

No. It is best effort. SSD behavior, cloud history, snapshots, backups, and other services may retain older copies.

How do I install FileVeil?

You do not need an installer. Download FileVeil.exe, place it in a folder you trust, and run it.
